In early March, I found this rosette of S. psittacina lying flat on the sandy ground. Some pitcher leaves measured nearly 20cm.  The leaves of the previous season endured the winter almost intact, assuming a deep maroon coloration. The flower buds of the spring were yet to emerge; the warmth of the spring is just around the corner.
