A typical form of S. flava in Florida in late April.  The flowers have long since disappeared in this southern-range locale of this species and new pitchers are fully grown.  Green trumpets reaching the height of 70cm or more have distinct maroon coloration on the inner column.  This species has several different forms in terms of color variation as well as slight variation of pitcher lid shapes.

I returned to the same colony a couple of weeks later. There was a heavy rain, I was told, a few days earlier. Many a tall pitcher leaf of this S. flava colony in Florida were tilted with the weight of water inside the pitcher tube.
